The Respite

The Respite is a structured 16-day program at Longevity Labs, The Shops at Mauna Lani, for women facing burnout, depression, anxiety, hormonal change or a metabolic wake-up call. You work with one physician, Dr. Kristy King, from the first lab draw to the day you fly home. Starts are rolling and individual.

Before you arrive

We begin with a 15-minute visit to see if The Respite fits. Screening questionnaires and a comprehensive lab panel of about 55 biomarkers, including a full women's hormone panel and cardiometabolic markers, are drawn near home before you travel. Your plan is drafted before day one.

The four pillars

Bone

Estrogen protects bone. Hormone therapy lowers hip fracture risk, one of the best established findings in women's medicine. We review your bone health and your hormone options together.

Brain

Depression, alcohol, blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, inactivity and isolation are among the 14 risk factors the 2024 Lancet Commission linked to dementia. The Respite works on many of them at once.

Heart

Lipids, glucose, insulin and blood pressure measured at the start and again before you leave, with a plan to carry forward.

Mind

Physician-administered ketamine sessions with Dr. King present, clinical hypnosis, breathwork and heart rate variability training, in a sequence built on published research.

What the 16 days include

  • Arrival and full intake
  • A series of ketamine sessions spaced across the stay for women who are good candidates
  • Clinical hypnosis before and after sessions
  • Daily slow breathing and heart rate variability training
  • Neurofeedback through a certified partner where it fits
  • A hormone decision visit, with the option to leave with up to six months of hormone therapy when appropriate
  • A metabolic reset with nutrition, movement and sleep
  • Repeat measurements before you go home, and a written plan for your own doctor

Where you stay

You book your own lodging near the clinic on the Kohala Coast. Because you cannot drive after a ketamine session, we help you choose a place within walking or shuttle distance.

Is it right for me?

Some women are not candidates for ketamine, and heavy daily drinking needs medical care before travel. Your 15-minute visit is where we decide together.
